While taking a break from full time paid work to focus on my family I started a blog – DorkyMum – about my life as a parent, activist and amateur photographer. In my first three years of blogging, I was a finalist in six national blog awards in the UK. I was also an invited speaker at the BritMums Live conference in London – once as part of a panel discussion on bloggers and charities and once as a Blogger Keynote.
Blogging has equipped me with the skills, experience and knowledge to use social media effectively. I built an engaged, loyal community of readers across platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
More recently, I spent a year working on community engagement for the Tasmanian Writers Centre and was responsible for their social media activity across all channels. My work led to significant growth in the TWC’s digital reach and the centre’s members gave enormously positive feedback about how I managed the accounts.
For me, social media has always been about producing quality, shareable content so when it’s time to send out a call to action you already have an enthusiastic audience waiting to support you. I believe growth should be gradual, authentic and organic – a genuine community is something that needs to be built, not bought.
If your small business is looking to build a presence on social media, I am here to help.
My services include:
