April 2025: some recent work

Hello everyone, I hope you’ve all enjoyed a break over the Easter weekend.

If you’re anything like me, you’re now racing to get a week’s worth of work done in three days before the next public holiday on Friday! Perhaps instead I should just give myself over to some enforced rest and pick things up next week when school goes back instead…

While I do have a moment spare, I thought I would share just a few links to some of my recent work.

I’ve really enjoyed working with Merri Creek Management Committee over the last year or so – learning about the incredible conservation efforts they co-ordinate in Melbourne. I have a couple of short pieces in MCMC’s most recent eNews: one on wallan wallan Regional Park, and one on a new Growling Grass Frog strategy. I also got the chance to wrote some longer case studies and profiles for their most recent annual report, which you can have a read through here.

I’ve been working with CSIRO’s Valuing Sustainability FSP for quite a while now too. As many of their postdoctoral researchers are coming to the end of their time with the organisation, I’ve been writing a series of short profiles to summarise the important projects they’ve been focused on. the first of these, profiling Dr Bernardo Cantone, is now live on the website and there are several more to come.

Finally, I had this feature about orchards published in RACT Journeys magazine. The timing of this was great, because the magazine landed in my mailbox the same week that I was working on three features for the winter edition of Journeys, and that provided a bit of extra inspiration to hit my deadlines! I’m really sorry to hear that the next edition of Journeys will be the last one that is produced in hard copy – they are going fully digital from now on – as even before I started writing for them, I loved to read the magazine.

However, I’ve got full faith in the editorial team to handle the transition well, and I hope that readers will make the effort to check out the online features from July onwards.

There are so many other projects I’ve been working on over the last few months that aren’t ready to share yet – websites, features, factsheets and more – but I’ll look forward to popping some links up on here when I can.

Thanks for taking the time to read, and to all my clients for their ongoing support.
